Coherence Isn't a Mood. It's a State You Can Build.

HeartMath® certified coherence coaching to help your nervous system stay steady, in session and in everyday life.

What Coherence Actually Is

Some people describe it as feeling "fine" on the surface while wound tight underneath. Others just call it tired, the kind of tired a good night's sleep doesn't fix. Both are describing the same thing: a nervous system that's rarely, if ever, coherent.

Coherence is a measurable physiological state, a rhythm of alignment between heart, mind, and emotion. When you're coherent, your body has more capacity to respond to what's happening instead of reacting to it, even when the pressure is real. It's not about staying calm no matter what. It's about your system having enough steadiness to actually choose your response.

The Practice

As a HeartMath® certified practitioner, I teach heart-brain coherence techniques: heart-focused breathing paired with intentional positive emotion, used deliberately to shift your heart rhythm pattern in real time. It sounds simple because it is. What makes it work is repetition and specificity, not novelty.

We start by getting familiar with your baseline, the state your nervous system defaults to on an ordinary day, so you can actually feel the difference when coherence kicks in. From there, we build short, repeatable practices around your specific stress points: before the conversation you've been dreading, in the middle of a hard moment, at the end of a long one. Coherence stops being a technique you did once in a session and becomes something you carry into a Tuesday afternoon.

Who This Helps Most

This work is especially suited to stress and anxiety that doesn't have one obvious trigger, the background hum that makes everything feel a little harder than it should. If you're someone who's often described as having it together while privately running on empty, this is usually where that gap lives.

If you've already done deeper trauma work, coherence practices are also what keep your system steady in the space between sessions, so the progress you've made doesn't erode the moment life gets busy again.

How It Connects to the Rest of the Work

Trauma-informed and somatic care helps you understand and shift old patterns at their root. Coherence gives your nervous system the resource it needs to stay regulated while that deeper work is happening. Neither replaces the other. They tend to reinforce each other, which is why most people end up working with both over time rather than choosing one.

Where This Shows Up

Coherence practices are woven into individual sessions from the start, and they form a strong foundation for group and team workshops, since a room full of people practicing coherence together builds a kind of collective steadiness that's hard to reach alone.
